Payroll Administrator
<p>We are looking for a Payroll Administrator to join a high-volume payroll team in Kitchener, Ontario on a Contract basis. In this role, you will help deliver accurate and timely payroll services for a unionized workforce while supporting day-to-day payroll operations and employee inquiries. This opportunity is ideal for someone who brings strong analytical ability, sound judgement, and confidence working within deadlines in a computerized payroll environment.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p><br></p><p>• Review payroll data and timesheets and apply appropriate earnings, deductions, and employer contributions within the payroll system.</p><p>• Calculate and enter payroll adjustments related to paid leaves, unpaid absences, and other exceptions affecting employee compensation.</p><p>• Validate payroll output by checking online production reports, correcting discrepancies, and preparing files for transmission.</p><p>• Complete statutory and voluntary remittances on schedule, maintaining compliance with applicable payroll obligations.</p><p>• Prepare, balance, and verify journal entries and cheque requests to support payroll accounting activities.</p><p>• Respond to payroll-related questions from employees and collaborate with internal departments and external agencies to resolve issues clearly and professionally.</p><p>• Contribute to a busy team environment by assisting with reporting, operational priorities, and payroll activities </p>
<p>• Completion of a two-year college diploma in business or a related field.</p><p>• Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification is preferred; candidates currently working toward certification a strong asset</p><p>• At least two years of experience in a computerized payroll setting.</p><p>• Strong Excel skills and practical ability to work with payroll-related software applications.</p><p>• Solid understanding of current payroll legislation.</p><p>• Knowledge of regulatory bodies and standards including the national revenue agency, federal service agency, Employment Standards Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, and Employer Health Tax regulations.</p><p>• Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet tight turnaround times, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.</p><p>• Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the judgement to make sound decisions independently and as part of a collaborative team.</p>
