Payroll Specialist
<p>Our client is looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a finance team in Edmonton, Alberta on a 12–15 month contract basis. This fully in-office role is ideal for someone with strong payroll experience who can manage high-volume processing within a unionized environment while supporting payroll reporting, pensions, and employee inquiries.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for union and non-union employees</li><li>Manage payroll adjustments, deductions, vacation, and sick accruals</li><li>Respond to payroll-related inquiries and provide timely follow-up</li><li>Monitor shared payroll communications and escalate issues when required</li><li>Support year-end payroll activities including T4 processing</li><li>Maintain payroll records and assist with pension administration</li><li>Reconcile benefits reports and support payroll-related finance reporting</li><li>Assist with expense processing and related AP support tasks</li><li>Adapt payroll processes during operational or system changes </li></ul><p><br></p>
<p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><p>• 3 to 5 years of payroll experience, with demonstrated ability to manage multiple pay cycles in a high-volume environment.</p><p>• Hands-on experience processing payroll in a unionized setting and interpreting collective agreements in day-to-day payroll administration.</p><p>• Exposure to pension administration and payroll impacts related to pension contributions, deductions, or reporting.</p><p>• Working knowledge of payroll legislation, taxable benefits, year-end reporting, and payroll accruals such as vacation and sick time.</p><p>• Strong communication skills with the ability to handle questions professionally, remain firm when needed, and build credibility with staff and stakeholders.</p><p>• Experience using payroll and accounting systems such as ADP, Ceridian, Dayforce, Workforce Now, or similar platforms.</p><p>• Solid organizational skills, attention to detail, and the initiative to ask questions and manage competing priorities in an office-based team environment.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>How to Apply:</strong> </p><p> </p><p>To be considered for this contract role, click the “Apply Now!” link or by using the Robert Half mobile app. Download it on the App Store or get it on Google Play today! </p><p> </p><p>Reference Number: 05110-0013445247</p><p> </p><p>Robert Half would like to thank all applicants for their expressed interest however, only those candidates identified for interview will be contacted. </p>
