Governance Specialist
<p>Are you an experienced Governance Specialist that can strengthen and maintain an organization's governance framework? Robert has partnered with a progressive organization that supports a large group of professional staff to secure the right person for this brand new role. Based in Edmonton, Alberta, this role involves providing expert guidance and support to the Board of Directors, committees, working groups, and local units. The ideal candidate will champion best practices in governance, ensuring accountability, transparency, and effective decision-making across all levels.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p><br></p><ul><li>Develop, implement, and maintain governance policies, procedures, and documentation, including constitutions, bylaws, and terms of reference.</li><li>Provide consultative support to the Board of Directors, committees, and other governance bodies to ensure informed and effective decision-making.</li><li>Facilitate and coordinate executive and committee meetings, including preparation of agendas, minutes, and follow-up actions.</li><li>Deliver expert advice on governance structures and processes to promote organizational accountability and oversight.</li><li>Prepare and present reports, analyses, and recommendations to senior leadership, the Board, and relevant committees.</li><li>Ensure compliance with governance best practices and applicable regulations, fostering a culture of transparency.</li><li>Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address governance-related inquiries and challenges.</li><li>Manage scheduling and communication for governance activities to ensure seamless coordination.</li><li>Utilize tools such as Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud to create and maintain governance-related documents.</li><li>Support the continuous improvement of governance frameworks and processes to align with organizational goals.</li></ul><p>This is a permanent, full-time role that offers a hybrid schedule and a very generous total rewards package including 100% employer paid benefits and pension contributions. • A minimum of 10 years of experience in governance, corporate oversight, or a related field.<br>• Strong expertise in preparing executive and board-level reports and presentations.<br>• Proficiency in facilitating committee and governance meetings, including agenda preparation and documentation.<br>• In-depth knowledge of corporate governance principles, structures, and processes.<br>• Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior leadership and stakeholders.<br>• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement governance policies and procedures.<br>• Advanced proficiency in Office tools and Adobe Creative Cloud for document creation and management.<br>• Excellent organizational and scheduling skills to manage complex governance activities.
