<p>We are looking for a dedicated Buyer to join our team in Burlington, Ontario. In this role, you will oversee procurement activities, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of raw materials to support manufacturing operations. This position offers an exciting opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage supplier relationships, and contribute to strategic sourcing initiatives.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Manage procurement activities by issuing purchase orders for raw materials—such as commodities, oils, fragrances, and pigments—aligned with production schedules and market trends.</li><li>Monitor and optimize supplier performance, expedite deliveries, and resolve supply disruptions to ensure uninterrupted production.</li><li>Communicate proactively regarding vendor or material issues that may impact manufacturing timelines.</li><li>Identify strategic sourcing opportunities to consolidate suppliers and enhance overall performance.</li><li>Collaborate with internal teams to control excess inventory and conduct post-program reviews for continuous improvement.</li><li>Support product development and change management by verifying raw material compatibility and compliance with quality standards.</li><li>Facilitate new program launches through alternative material sourcing and effective procurement timeline management.</li><li>Resolve vendor quality concerns in partnership with the Quality Department, ensuring corrective actions are implemented promptly.</li><li>Drive cost-reduction initiatives via benchmarking, price negotiations, and optimization of supplier terms.</li><li>Provide strategic support to the Director of Purchasing through reporting and execution of key initiatives.</li></ul>
<ul><li>Degree or diploma in <strong>Supply Chain</strong>, <strong>Business</strong>, <strong>Chemistry</strong>, or related field</li><li><strong>5+ years</strong> purchasing experience in manufacturing (soap noodles/palm oil a plus)</li><li>Skilled in <strong>vendor management</strong> and <strong>international negotiations</strong></li><li>Strong <strong>analytical skills</strong> with advanced <strong>Excel</strong> expertise</li><li>Highly organized, problem-solver, thrives in fast-paced environments</li><li><strong>Supply Chain certification</strong> or enrollment is an asset</li><li>Knowledge of <strong>sustainability standards</strong> and compliance</li><li>Proficient in <strong>ERP systems</strong> (SAP, Oracle) and procurement tools</li></ul>
