A Revenue Manager manages revenue accounting, billing operations and accounts receivable to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with applicable accounting standards. They manage, mentor, and train the accounting team, fostering a high-performance and collaborative environment. They manage revenue recognition, review customer contracts, reconcile financial data, oversee billing and revenue transactions, and support month-end and year-end close processes.Working closely with accounting, finance, sales, operations and business leaders, Revenue Managers help organizations navigate increasingly complex revenue models, subscription-based services and evolving accounting requirements by ensuring financial accuracy, maintaining compliance and providing reliable financial information to support business performance and strategic decision-making.

Typical revenue manager duties:

Oversee billing operations by reviewing customer agreements, preparing invoices, monitoring unbilled revenue and helping ensure timely and accurate billing and payment processing.Manage revenue recognition activities in accordance with applicable accounting standards (such as IFRS or ASPE, as applicable), including preparing journal entries, reconciling deferred revenue accounts and supporting accurate financial reporting.Review customer contracts and subscription or service agreements to determine appropriate billing and revenue recognition treatment.Monitor accounts receivable, review aging reports, support collection activities and reconcile customer payments to maintain accurate receivable balances.Review and reconcile revenue schedules, general ledger accounts and supporting financial records to support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities.Analyze revenue trends, billing activity and financial data, identify discrepancies and work with cross-functional teams to resolve revenue-related issues and improve reporting accuracy.Collaborate with sales, finance and operations teams to validate revenue transactions, customer renewals and contract changes affecting revenue reporting.Support audits by preparing documentation, maintaining accurate financial records and helping ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
