Revenue Accountant

Revenue Accountant job description

A Revenue Accountant reviews and reports revenue-related financial activities to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., IFRS or ASPE, as applicable). They analyze revenue transactions, maintain accounting records, reconcile accounts and support month-end and year-end close processes while ensuring compliance with internal controls, corporate accounting policies and applicable Canadian financial reporting requirements. Working closely with accounting, finance, sales, operations and business leaders, Revenue Accountants help organizations navigate evolving revenue recognition requirements, complex customer agreements and growing reporting demands by supporting financial accuracy, transparency and reliable financial information for business decision-making. A CPA designation (or progress toward designation) is preferred.

Typical revenue accountant duties:

Record and reconcile revenue transactions in accordance with accounting standards, company policies and revenue recognition requirements.Review contracts, sales agreements and billing activity to support accurate revenue recognition and financial reporting.Prepare revenue-related journal entries, account reconciliations and reporting schedules and support month-end, quarter-end and year-end close activities.Analyze revenue trends, variances and financial data and collaborate with finance, sales and operations teams to resolve revenue-related issues and support forecasting efforts.Assist with audits and identify opportunities to improve revenue accounting processes, reporting accuracy and operational efficiency.
