We are looking for an experienced Divisional/Plant Controller to support manufacturing finance operations in Waterbury, Connecticut. This is a Contract position focused on strengthening cost visibility, improving financial oversight, and delivering accurate reporting for plant and divisional leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong controllership expertise, hands-on manufacturing cost accounting knowledge, and the ability to guide month-end activities in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: • Lead the monthly close process for plant and divisional finance activities, ensuring timely and accurate completion of journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting deliverables. • Prepare and analyze financial statements and management reports that provide clear insight into operational performance, cost trends, and key business drivers. • Manage manufacturing cost accounting activities, including standard cost maintenance, inventory-related analysis, and cost allocation review. • Evaluate production and spending results by performing detailed variance analysis and explaining monthly differences against budget, forecast, and standard costs. • Partner with operations and leadership teams to monitor plant performance, identify financial risks, and support sound business decisions. • Maintain strong controllership practices by reinforcing internal controls, supporting compliance expectations, and promoting accuracy across financial processes. • Review product and operational costing assumptions to help improve margin visibility and ensure reliable cost data for reporting purposes. • Contribute to ongoing process improvements within finance, including enhancements to reporting workflows, close procedures, and cost analysis methods.

Controller for a Director of Finance role- Small and stable nonprofit organization. This is the top financial position in the organization. They will consider candidates ready for the next step including Senior Accountants, Assistant Controllers and Controllers. Job responsibilities include oversight of accounting and finance, month end close, monthly financial reporting, financial presentations to the BOD and Finance Committee, grant reporting and compliance and oversight of the annual external audit. Minimum requirements include strong month and close, GAAP reporting, grant reporting, internal controls, implementation of improvements to policies and procedures and experience with Connecticut funders. They are open to Senior Accountants who are ready for the next step. The retiring director of finance will help transition the new one. Candidates coming out of public accounting with strong nonprofit audit experience will also be considered. The base salary range is $110,000 - $115,000 plus discretionary bonus, health Insurance (85% employer paid), dental and 100% vision insurance, very generous PTO and holidays and a 4% match on their 403b plan. Hybrid wok schedule of 2-3 days from home once you are up and running.
