Controller
We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead financial operations and provide reliable reporting that supports sound business decisions. This position is based in San Jose, California, and will oversee core accounting activities, budgeting, and compliance across property-related financial functions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, leadership capability, and the ability to maintain accurate documentation and organized financial records.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Direct daily accounting operations, ensuring financial records are complete, accurate, and maintained in accordance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.<br>• Lead month-end and year-end close activities, including account reconciliations, journal entry review, and timely preparation of consolidated financial reports.<br>• Prepare and review financial statements, delivering clear insights on performance, cash position, and key financial trends to leadership.<br>• Manage cash flow planning, monitor liquidity needs, and support forecasting efforts to help maintain financial stability and operational readiness.<br>• Oversee property accounting activities, including tracking transactions, reviewing allocations, and ensuring reporting accuracy across assets or entities.<br>• Coordinate the development of budgets and forecasts, partnering with stakeholders to evaluate results, identify variances, and recommend corrective actions.<br>• Supervise the preparation and filing of partnership and property tax returns, working closely with external advisors as needed to maintain compliance.<br>• Guide and develop the accounting team, setting priorities, reviewing work quality, and fostering a high-performance environment.<br>• Maintain organized financial documentation by supporting document control, scanning, and record compilation processes to ensure accessible and audit-ready files.
• CPA designation required.<br>• Demonstrated experience leading accounting and finance functions in a Controller or similar senior-level role.<br>• Strong background in cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, and month-end close oversight.<br>• Proven ability to prepare and consolidate financial statements with a high degree of accuracy.<br>• Experience with property accounting and related financial reporting responsibilities.<br>• Knowledge of partnership tax returns and property tax return processes.<br>• Prior team leadership experience with the ability to manage, mentor, and develop accounting staff.
