<p>Job Overview</p><p>We are seeking an experienced <strong>SQL Database Administrator / Data Engineer</strong> to support a major <strong>data platform modernization and cloud migration initiative</strong>. This role will focus on migrating <strong>on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS</strong>, building data pipelines, and supporting modern cloud-based database environments.</p><p>The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with <strong>AWS database services, Python-based data processing, and data pipeline development</strong>. This individual will play a key role in ensuring <strong>data reliability, performance monitoring, and scalable data architecture</strong> supporting enterprise applications.</p><p>This position requires a <strong>hybrid work schedule</strong>, with <strong>2–3 days onsite in Richmond, VA</strong> and additional onsite presence as requested by the manager.</p><p>WKey Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Support the <strong>migration of on-premises SQL Server databases to AWS and Snowflake environments</strong></li><li>Build and maintain <strong>AWS-based data pipelines</strong></li><li>Develop <strong>Python scripts for data generation, transformation, and bulk data loading</strong></li><li>Design and maintain <strong>logical and physical data models</strong></li><li>Support application teams using <strong>Amazon RDS and DynamoDB</strong></li><li>Assist with <strong>data validation, migration testing, and performance tuning</strong></li><li>Develop <strong>operational dashboards and monitoring metrics</strong> for database performance</li><li>Ensure <strong>data quality, system efficiency, and reporting reliability</strong></li><li>Support <strong>BAU operations for SQL Server and cloud database environments</strong></li></ul><p><br></p>

<p>eRequired Qualifications</p><ul><li><strong>5+ years of experience</strong> in Database Administration, Data Engineering, or a related role</li><li><strong>5+ years of experience</strong> migrating or archiving databases from <strong>on-prem environments to AWS</strong></li><li>Experience with <strong>AWS Database Migration Service (DMS)</strong> or similar migration tools</li><li>Strong experience with AWS database technologies including:</li><li><strong>Amazon RDS</strong></li><li><strong>DynamoDB</strong></li><li><strong>S3</strong></li><li>Experience developing <strong>Python scripts for data processing, transformation, and loading</strong></li><li>Experience building <strong>AWS data pipelines</strong> using services such as:</li><li><strong>AWS Glue</strong></li><li><strong>AWS Lambda</strong></li><li><strong>Amazon S3</strong></li><li>Experience designing <strong>logical and physical data models</strong></li><li>Experience supporting <strong>application data environments</strong></li><li>Experience with <strong>PostgreSQL, SQL Server, DynamoDB, and Snowflake</strong></li><li>Hands-on experience configuring <strong>AWS data management services</strong> including:</li><li>AWS Glue Data Catalog</li><li>AWS DataZone</li><li>API Gateway</li><li>Familiarity with <strong>version control and CI/CD tools</strong> such as <strong>GitHub and AWS CodePipeline</strong></li></ul><p> Preferred Qualifications</p><ul><li>Experience using <strong>AWS Schema Conversion Tool (SCT)</strong></li><li>Experience working with <strong>large datasets and ETL pipelines</strong></li><li>Knowledge of <strong>data lake architecture</strong></li><li>Experience supporting <strong>enterprise-scale cloud migrations</strong></li></ul><p><br></p>
