Platform Engineer - Web & AI Applications
We are looking for an experienced Platform Engineer - Web & AI Applications to support the growth of customer-facing digital products in Naperville, Illinois. This Long-term Contract position focuses on improving the performance, resilience, and extensibility of web and mobile experiences while helping shape modern application architecture. The role will contribute to AI-enabled features, scalable frontend solutions, and dependable platform capabilities that serve a large user base.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Design and enhance web application components using React to deliver responsive, intuitive user experiences across digital channels.<br>• Build and strengthen backend services and platform features that improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability for customer-facing applications.<br>• Optimize website speed, availability, and capacity to support high volumes of traffic and consistent performance.<br>• Develop and integrate AI-driven capabilities, including large language model functionality and conversational chatbot experiences, into web and mobile products.<br>• Partner with cross-functional teams to define technical approaches, implement modern architecture patterns, and deliver features aligned with business goals.<br>• Support the broader web and mobile application ecosystem by addressing platform needs, resolving production issues, and improving operational stability.<br>• Apply contemporary engineering practices and AI-assisted development methods to accelerate delivery and elevate code quality.<br>• Contribute to web infrastructure and publishing environments where needed, including support for web servers, site administration tools, and related platform technologies.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience in production environments.<br>• Advanced hands-on expertise with React and modern frontend development for customer-facing applications.<br>• Proven success building, scaling, and maintaining high-traffic websites or digital platforms.<br>• Strong experience with backend development and cloud-based application architecture.<br>• Demonstrated ability to improve website performance, system reliability, and platform scalability.<br>• Experience integrating large language models into applications and delivering AI-powered chatbot solutions.<br>• Familiarity with modern software engineering practices, including AI-assisted development workflows.<br>• Working knowledge of web platform technologies such as web servers, IIS, webmaster tools, Drupal, or web publishing environments.
