We are looking for an experienced Controller to join a nonprofit organization based in Boston, Massachusetts. This role is central to overseeing the organization's financial operations, including accounting, reporting, and budget management. The position offers flexibility with on-site work required two or three days a week. Responsibilities:• Oversee all aspects of the organization's accounting functions, including operational accounting, financial planning and analysis, and financial reporting.• Manage the general ledger process, ensuring accurate and timely month-end closings.• Prepare tax filings and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.• Assist in the development of budgets, forecasts, and financial plans while providing comprehensive reports to the Board.• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and maintain strong internal controls.• Lead efforts in upgrading financial systems and tools to meet organizational needs.• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, encouraging attention to detail and collaboration within the team.

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting, preferably within the nonprofit sector. • Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and practices is required. • Experience in public accounting or prior leadership roles is highly desirable. • Strong proficiency in document control, scanning, and compiling financial documents. • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines consistently. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse stakeholders.
