Controller
We are looking for an experienced Controller to support statutory reporting and regulatory compliance activities for a Property &amp; Casualty insurance organization in Fort Worth, Texas. This Long-term Contract position will play a central role in producing accurate financial filings, strengthening reporting controls, and delivering clear analysis to business leaders and regulatory stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of statutory accounting, insurance reporting requirements, and cross-functional coordination across finance, actuarial, reinsurance, treasury, tax, and audit teams.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Direct the preparation and submission of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements, including required schedules, supplements, and related disclosures for a P&amp;C insurance carrier.<br>• Oversee the completion of state insurance filings to ensure reports are delivered accurately and within all applicable deadlines.<br>• Review trial balances, journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting documentation tied to statutory reporting outputs.<br>• Evaluate statutory financial results, surplus activity, and key insurance performance indicators to provide meaningful insight to leadership.<br>• Partner with actuarial, reinsurance, corporate accounting, tax, treasury, and internal audit teams to confirm data integrity and reporting consistency.<br>• Track updates to statutory accounting guidance and insurance reporting regulations, translating changes into compliant reporting practices.<br>• Maintain and enhance internal controls, reporting procedures, and documentation to improve accuracy, transparency, and operational efficiency.<br>• Coordinate statutory audits and regulatory examinations, supporting external auditors and responding to questions, findings, and follow-up requests.<br>• Provide leadership, coaching, and performance direction to staff involved in statutory reporting while supporting broader departmental initiatives and special projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.<br>• At least 5 years of accounting or financial reporting experience, with substantial background in the insurance industry.<br>• Hands-on experience preparing or reviewing statutory financial statements for a Property &amp; Casualty insurance carrier.<br>• Strong command of statutory accounting principles, regulatory filings, annual statement preparation, and related compliance requirements.<br>• Working knowledge of reinsurance accounting and reporting concepts within an insurance environment.<br>• Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with financial reporting tools and systems.<br>• Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities with strong attention to detail.<br>• Effective communication skills with the ability to work across multiple stakeholder groups and explain reporting impacts clearly.
