We are looking for an experienced Non-Profit Fractional Controller Consultant to join our team in Detroit, Michigan for a long-term engagement. You will play a key part in overseeing financial operations, ensuring accuracy in reporting, and supporting senior management with critical financial insights. This position requires a hands-on, detail-oriented individual who is well-versed in accounting practices and can manage a variety of financial functions independently. The day-to-day responsibilities include: • Prepare and manage day-to-day invoicing activities and ensure accurate reconciliation of accounts.• Generate and present detailed financial and budget reports during board and committee meetings.• Oversee and execute all aspects of the month-end closing process, ensuring timely and accurate results.• Develop and maintain budgets and forecasts to support organizational financial planning.• Handle accounting functions related to government grants, ensuring compliance and accuracy.• Collaborate with leadership to provide financial data and analysis needed for decision-making.• Ensure proper documentation and reporting for audits and regulatory compliance.• Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes to enhance efficiency.• Monitor financial performance and recommend adjustments to achieve organizational goals.

The ideal candidate will have the following skill set: • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or financial management roles.• Extensive knowledge and hands-on experience with month-end close procedures.• Strong skills in account reconciliation and maintaining financial accuracy.• Familiarity with managing and reporting on government grants.• Proven ability to create and oversee budgets and forecasts.• Experience presenting financial data to boards and committees.• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.• Advanced proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools.
