SQF Practitioner
<p>We are looking for an experienced SQF Practitioner to support food packaging quality and food safety initiatives at our Compton, California facility. This permanent full time opportunity is ideal for a quality specialist who can lead compliance programs, strengthen audit readiness, and partner with cross-functional teams to maintain a strong food safety culture. The person in this role will oversee SQF program execution, coordinate testing and documentation activities, and provide clear updates to leadership on system performance and improvement needs.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><p>• Lead the administration and continuous improvement of the SQF-based Food Safety Management System to ensure effective implementation across the site.</p><p>• Provide senior leadership with routine updates on program status, compliance performance, resource requirements, and opportunities for improvement.</p><p>• Guide the Food Safety Team by clarifying responsibilities, assigning priorities, and confirming members are properly trained for their roles.</p><p>• Create and deliver training related to SQF standards, food safety expectations, and current good manufacturing practices for employees and team members.</p><p>• Coordinate internal audit activities, track findings through resolution, and monitor corrective and preventive actions to completion.</p><p>• Maintain accurate control of food safety documents and records so materials remain current, organized, and audit-ready.</p><p>• Work with laboratories and internal stakeholders to arrange product and raw material sampling, document results, and communicate findings to management.</p><p>• Oversee recall preparedness and crisis response exercises, including mock traceability activities, documentation of results, and follow-up actions.</p><p>• Partner with production and other departments to advance plant-wide safety and quality initiatives, including routine monthly cGMP inspections and reporting.</p><p>• Serve as the primary point of contact for external food safety matters involving auditors, regulators, and related compliance representatives.</p>
• 3+ years of experience in quality assurance, quality control, or food safety within a manufacturing environment.<br>• Completed formal SQF Practitioner training and demonstrated ability to manage an SQF system.<br>• Working knowledge of SQF-based risk management principles and practical experience maintaining food safety plans and prerequisite programs.<br>• Understanding of the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacture of Food Packaging, including Food Sector Category 27.<br>• Familiarity with the current SQF Food Safety Code: Manufacture of Food Packaging, Edition 9.0.<br>• Ability to lead cross-functional teams, organize priorities, and communicate effectively with employees, management, auditors, and regulators.<br>• Strong documentation, recordkeeping, and audit coordination skills with attention to regulatory and customer compliance requirements.<br>• Experience supporting testing programs, traceability exercises, recall readiness activities, and cGMP compliance efforts.
