Controller
We are looking for an experienced Controller to join our team in Chesapeake, Virginia. This long-term contract position offers the opportunity to oversee and manage critical financial operations within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in accounting processes, inventory management, and audit preparation, while providing leadership and guidance to the accounting team.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Serve as the interim Controller, taking full responsibility for financial oversight and management following the departure of the current Controller.<br>• Lead the month-end close process, including reviewing approvals, managing accruals, and reconciling accounts.<br>• Supervise daily operations of the accounting team, ensuring workflows are efficient and accurate.<br>• Utilize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central for day-to-day accounting tasks and reporting.<br>• Manage manufacturing accounting functions, including inventory valuation, intercompany transfers, absorption costing, and cost variance analysis.<br>• Assess inventory trends and operational volatility to mitigate audit and reporting risks.<br>• Prepare and document financial close processes to support the onboarding of a permanent Controller.<br>• Collaborate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation for audits.<br>• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
• Proven experience as a Controller or Senior Controller, preferably in a manufacturing setting.<br>• Strong knowledge of inventory management, absorption costing, and intercompany accounting processes.<br>• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.<br>• Familiarity with external audit procedures and requirements.<br>• Ability to operate effectively with incomplete documentation and make informed decisions.<br>• Excellent leadership skills with a track record of managing accounting teams.<br>• Detail-oriented approach to documenting processes and ensuring accuracy.<br>• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in dynamic environments.
