<p>Chris Preble from Robert Half is looking for a Controller to lead core accounting and financial oversight for a manufacturing operation in Binghamton, New York. This role has a bonus and really good benefits with opportunity for growth.</p><p><br></p><p>This is a hands-on leadership position combining traditional Controller responsibilities with financial planning, analysis and strategic business partnership.</p><p>The ideal candidate will have a strong accounting foundation along with the ability to work closely with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and overall business performance. This person will lead a small accounting and finance team while remaining actively involved in the day-to-day work of the department.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Lead the accounting and finance function, including general accounting, financial reporting, AP, AR and related activities</li><li>Oversee month-end, quarter-end and year-end close processes</li><li>Manage budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities</li><li>Analyze financial and operational performance, including profitability, costs, trends and variances</li><li>Provide financial analysis and recommendations to senior leadership</li><li>Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies and financial procedures</li><li>Support cost accounting and manufacturing-related financial analysis</li><li>Partner with operational leaders to improve financial visibility and business performance</li><li>Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting, systems and automation</li><li>Lead, mentor and develop members of the accounting and finance team</li><li>Support external audits and other financial compliance requirements</li><li>Participate in special projects and strategic initiatives as needed</li></ul><p><br></p>
• Proven experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role within a manufacturing environment.<br>• Strong knowledge of month-end close procedures, financial reporting, and controllership best practices.<br>• Hands-on expertise in manufacturing cost accounting, including inventory and standard cost analysis.<br>• Solid understanding of general accounting principles, internal controls, and financial statement preparation.<br>• Ability to interpret financial results, identify variances, and communicate recommendations clearly to stakeholders.<br>• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities effectively.
