Health and Safety Officer/Advisor
<p>Are you an experienced safety professional looking for a new challenge? Do you experience working in residential and/or commercial construction? Here are the main responsibilities:</p><p><br></p><p><strong>Safety Compliance and Risk Management:</strong></p><ul><li>Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance OH& S, and other relevant regulations.</li><li>Help the company achieve COR certification.</li><li>Conduct regular site inspections to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards within HVAC and plumbing service operations.</li><li>Investigate accidents and incidents, providing thorough reporting and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.</li><li>Lead safety training programs, toolbox talks, and workshops for HVAC and plumbing technicians and associated personnel.</li><li>Maintain and monitor all safety-related records and documentation, ensuring consistent updates and accessibility for audits.</li></ul><p><strong>Fleet Management:</strong></p><ul><li>Oversee the operation, maintenance, and compliance of the company’s vehicle fleet, keeping vehicles in optimal condition to support service delivery.</li><li>Track and manage all fleet assets, including mileage, fuel usage, and maintenance schedules, ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g., DOT requirements).</li><li>Develop and communicate policies for driver safety and vehicle operation best practices.</li><li>Collaborate with mechanics and vendors to schedule repairs and preventative maintenance, minimizing downtime and associated costs.</li><li>Monitor fleet budgets, analyze expenses, and identify areas for cost efficiency.</li></ul><p><strong>Collaboration and Reporting:</strong></p><ul><li>Collaborate closely with Operations, HR, and Project Management teams to align safety and fleet practices with company goals.</li><li>Establish and deliver regular reports on safety and fleet performance, safety incident statistics, and compliance updates to senior management.</li><li>Serve as the main point of contact for safety audits, fleet inspections, and compliance inquiries.</li></ul><p>This is a full-time, permanent role that is primarily office-based, with some travel to work sites in and around the Edmonton area. <ul><li>A minimum of 5 years of experience in occupational health and safety or a related field.</li><li>NCSO designation (or higher) is required. </li><li>Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.</li><li>Proven experience in fleet management, including vehicle maintenance and compliance.</li><li>Ability to conduct thorough safety inspections and risk assessments.</li><li>Excellent communication and training skills to engage employees and foster a culture of safety.</li><li>Strong organizational skills with the ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.</li><li>Familiarity with HVAC or plumbing service operations is considered an asset.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external vendors</li></ul>
