Data Security Analyst
We are looking for an experienced Data Security Analyst to join our team in Hamilton, Ontario, on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a critical part in safeguarding IT systems by monitoring, investigating, and responding to potential threats. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your technical expertise in a dynamic environment leveraging industry-standard security tools.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Monitor and analyze security alerts from Microsoft Sentinel and other external monitoring platforms.<br>• Investigate and respond to security threats across endpoints, networks, and cloud environments.<br>• Conduct detailed analysis of logs, firewall activity, and endpoint protection data to identify potential risks.<br>• Manage and optimize tools such as Microsoft Defender for Endpoint and Defender for Identity.<br>• Collaborate with vulnerability management efforts, including the use of Tenable to identify and address system weaknesses.<br>• Assist in security investigations involving Palo Alto firewalls and Cisco networking equipment.<br>• Contribute to the development and refinement of incident response playbooks and related documentation.<br>• Identify opportunities to enhance alert accuracy and streamline security processes.<br>• Provide support for cloud security initiatives, including Azure Security Center and Defender for Cloud.<br>• Promote user awareness by leveraging tools like KnowBe4 to educate on security best practices.
• A minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in a technical security role.<br>• Proficiency in endpoint protection, security monitoring, and threat analysis.<br>• Demonstrated experience with tools such as Microsoft Sentinel, Defender Suite, Tenable, Palo Alto, or Cisco.<br>• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.<br>• Familiarity with cloud environments, particularly Azure, is an asset.<br>• Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks and standards such as NIST.<br>• Certifications like Security+ or equivalent are considered an advantage.<br>• Ability to work effectively in a team and adapt to evolving security challenges.
