Graphic Designer
<p><strong>Position Overview</strong></p><p><strong> </strong>Our Edmonton-based client is seeking two (2) Graphic Designers to join their Communications & Citizen Engagement Department on a short-term contract (approximately 2–3 weeks, with potential for extension).</p><p><br></p><p>Reporting to the Director of Communications & Citizen Engagement and the Manager of the Creative Department, this fully onsite role supports the design, branding, and storytelling needs of the organization. The Graphic Designer will create visually engaging materials that bring the client’s messages, programs, and initiatives to life.</p><p><br></p><p>The successful candidates will balance creativity with precision, producing designs that reflect identity, pride, and professionalism. This is an excellent opportunity for talented designers who thrive in collaborative, fast-paced environments and want to contribute meaningfully to projects that support community engagement and communications initiatives.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Design print and digital materials, including reports, social media graphics, event signage, posters, presentations, and marketing collateral</li><li>Translate project goals and messages into compelling visual concepts and layouts</li><li>Collaborate with writers, videographers, and digital staff to maintain consistency across campaigns</li><li>Support the development and maintenance of templates and design standards</li><li>Prepare production-ready files for both print and online distribution</li><li>Contribute creative ideas during brainstorming and planning sessions</li><li>Manage multiple design projects simultaneously with attention to detail and deadlines</li></ul>
<p><strong>Skills & Competencies</strong></p><ul><li>Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)</li><li>Experience with Canva, Figma, or similar design tools considered an asset</li><li>Strong visual design skills, including typography, colour, layout, and composition</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and ability to adapt design styles for diverse audiences</li><li>Strong time management and organizational skills</li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a creative team environment</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Diploma or degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field</li><li>Minimum two years of experience in a graphic design or visual communications role</li><li>Experience designing for both digital and print platforms</li><li>Demonstrated portfolio showcasing a range of design work</li></ul>
