<p><strong>Controller</strong></p><p><strong>Location:</strong> Collingwood, Ontario</p><p><strong>Workplace Type:</strong> On-site</p><p><strong>Job Summary</strong></p><p>Our client is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and finance function for a growing organization. This role will oversee financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management, internal controls, and compliance, while partnering closely with leadership and operations to support business performance. The ideal candidate is a strong people leader with experience in construction, custom home building, or other project-based environments.</p><p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p><ul><li>Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and client billing</li><li>Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements</li><li>Lead the budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning processes</li><li>Manage banking relationships and monitor debt compliance requirements</li><li>Develop, implement, and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures</li><li>Ensure compliance with provincial and federal regulations, tax requirements, and lender reporting obligations</li><li>Deliver timely financial reporting and analysis to support strategic decision-making</li><li>Coordinate year-end close activities and lead the external audit process</li><li>Partner with ownership, project managers, and engineers to align financial results with operational goals</li><li>Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team</li><li>Maintain an on-site presence to support collaboration and cross-functional teamwork</li></ul><p><br></p>
<p><strong>What You Bring</strong></p><ul><li>CPA designation required</li><li>7+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within construction, custom home building, project management, or cost accounting</li><li>5+ years of leadership experience overseeing accounting or finance teams</li><li>Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and tax compliance</li><li>Experience with QuickBooks, Dayforce, Buildertrend, Co-Construct, and Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel</li><li>Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills</li><li>Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments</li><li>Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment</li></ul><p><strong>Why This Role?</strong></p><p>This is an excellent opportunity for a finance leader who wants to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative, project-driven organization.
