Insurance Referral Coordinator

Job Description:

A successful insurance referral coordinator has a solid understanding of insurance procedures and a working knowledge of medical terminology and coding.

Sensitivity to confidential healthcare information is required. Knowledge of medical billing is a plus.

Typical Duties of an Insurance Referral Coordinator:

  • Providing support to medical billing staff
  • Acting as a liaison between insurance and healthcare providers to ensure required referrals have been processed correctly for medical specialty visits
  • Filing documents, keeping records and performing other clerical duties as assigned
