<p>Robert Half has been retained by Equitix Management Services (EMS), a leading infrastructure consultancy business that specialises in providing management services to investors in critical infrastructure sectors.</p><p><strong>THE COMPANY</strong></p><p>Equitix Management Services Limited (EMS) provides management services to Cascade Infrastructure Limited (CIL), a project company comprising Equitix, STRABAG and GLIL as shareholders, that has been appointed by United Utilities (UU) to deliver the Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (HARP).</p><p>HARP is a multi-billion-pound infrastructure project to upgrade the water supply apparatus carrying water from the Haweswater reservoir to Greater Manchester. CIL fosters a positive, inspirational and proactive culture, and is seeking candidates that can demonstrate adaptability and a desire to work within a progressive, supportive team striving for excellence. </p><p><strong>THE ROLE</strong></p><p>As the Environmental &amp; Sustainability Manager, you will be pivotal in driving Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) objectives and achieving compliance within environmental regulations and project requirements. This role involves developing strategies, ensuring compliance frameworks are maintained, and working closely with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies such as the Environment Agency.</p><p>Your responsibilities will include managing ISO 14001 compliance, data analysis for carbon emissions and waste, oversight of environmental obligations, and engagement with United Utilities' environmental team for seamless integration of environmental objectives within the project scope.</p><p><strong>KEY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><p><strong>Environmental Strategy and Reporting:</strong></p><ul><li>Develop and coordinate an Environmental Strategy and Plan, ensuring compliance with ISO 14001 standards and project KPIs in Schedule 17 of the Project Agreement.</li><li>Prepare environmental reporting for stakeholders, lenders, and the end client.</li><li>Conduct environmental assessments and implement policies aligned with shareholder and lender requirements.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Pollution, Waste, and Carbon Oversight:</strong></p><ul><li>Monitor and manage systems to handle pollution incidents, waste management, and reduce carbon impact (including decarbonisation initiatives).</li><li>Collaborate with the supply chain to improve environmental management performance.</li></ul><p><strong>Stakeholder Collaboration:</strong></p><ul><li>Foster and manage relationships with the Environment Agency, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective communication.</li><li>Coordinate interaction with United Utilities' environmental team and routinely oversee environmental components of Design Data submissions.</li></ul><p><strong>ESG Policy and Certification:</strong></p><ul><li>Develop and maintain an ESG Policy, adhering to good industry practices with annual updates.</li><li>Achieve and maintain ISO 14001 certification, liaising with external advisers and auditors to prepare necessary documentation and evidence for audits.</li></ul><p><strong>Data Collection and Reporting:</strong></p><ul><li>Manage environmental data collection, analysis, and reporting for metrics such as carbon emissions, waste management, and performance improvement.</li><li>Submit regular ESG reporting to the Board, shareholders, and financial stakeholders under Senior Finance Documents.</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications and Experience</strong></p><ul><li>Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.</li><li>5+ years of proven experience in environmental management roles within the construction, infrastructure, or energy sectors.</li><li>Experience of implementing strategies across areas such as carbon emissions/decarbonisation, climate resilience, biodiversity net gain, social value, supply chain development and training, and community engagement.</li><li>Understanding of capital markets-related sustainability requirements and expectations such as green and sustainability-linked loans, Equator Principles, Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures.</li><li>Experience of integrating sustainability into core strategy and operations, decision making and monitoring frameworks.</li><li>Experience of working with varying stakeholder reporting requirements (customer metrics, investor metrics, lender metrics etc).</li><li>Previous experience managing environmental compliance, liaising with regulatory bodies such as Environment Agency, and driving sustainability initiatives.</li><li>Hands-on expertise in achieving and maintaining ISO 14001 certification.</li><li>Strong understanding of Environmental Social Governance (ESG) principles.</li><li>Exceptional organisational and communication skills to engage stakeholders and drive environmental innovation.</li><li>Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret environmental data and develop actionable policies for improvement.</li><li>Passionate about sustainability and committed to achieving ambitious environmental goals for a transformative infrastructure project.</li></ul><p>This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high profile, high value, high impact project.
