Assistant Controller
<p>We are looking for an experienced Assistant Controller to join a prominent NPO on a contract basis in Vancouver, British Columbia. This role will involve overseeing critical accounting functions, ensuring compliance with financial standards, and supporting the team in delivering accurate reporting. Ideal candidates will possess strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative approach to working with diverse teams.</p><p><br></p><p>Responsibilities:</p><ul><li>Oversee month-end close activities, ensuring the preparation and accuracy of critical working documents.</li><li>Conduct thorough reviews of financial statements and provide supervisory oversight for the deliverables prepared by team members.</li><li>Administer payroll processing operations, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.</li><li>Assist with accounting functions related to fixed assets, including monitoring, maintenance, and reconciliation activities.</li><li>Develop comprehensive working papers and supporting documentation to aid in year-end audit processes.</li><li>Partner with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver required financial data and insights as requested.</li><li>Mentor and guide team members to foster skill development and improve overall team efficiency.</li><li>Apply meticulous attention to detail to investigate and resolve financial variances and discrepancies proactively.</li><li>Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and enhance existing workflows and procedures.</li><li>Ensure compliance with established financial reporting standards and organizational policies to support company objectives.</li></ul>
<p>In addition to the above, the following are also desired:</p><p>• Maintain a recognized accounting qualification, such as a CPA or a comparable credential, with proven ability to ensure accuracy and precision.</p><p>• Hold at least 5 years of experience in financial reporting, with a preference for exposure to intricate organizational structures.</p><p>• Showcase expertise in using Sage300 software and managing fixed asset operations effectively.</p><p>• Demonstrate advanced capabilities in Excel for organizing, analyzing, and interpreting complex financial data.</p><p>• Possess excellent interpersonal abilities to engage with stakeholders effectively and foster robust professional relationships.</p><p>• Exhibit the capacity to coach and support team members, fostering productive workflows and workload optimization.</p><p>• Display strong analytical problem-solving skills complemented by meticulous attention to detail.</p><p>• Industry-specific experience is preferred but not required, provided substantial technical skills and expertise are evident.</p><p><br></p><p>If you are an experienced accounting and financial professional, please apply to Robert Half Management Resources today.
