Payroll Specialist
We are looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our team on a contract basis in Toronto, Ontario. In this role, you will focus on managing and supporting payroll operations for U.S.-based employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance during weekly and biweekly payroll cycles. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to year-end payroll activities and work in a dynamic environment with hybrid work arrangements.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Manage weekly and biweekly payroll cycles, ensuring timely processing and accuracy of deposits.<br>• Validate payroll data and address discrepancies to maintain compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.<br>• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including reporting and reconciliation tasks.<br>• Collaborate with payroll vendors to ensure seamless execution of payroll functions.<br>• Support bonus payouts and other specialized payroll processes as required.<br>• Utilize Workday software to handle payroll operations efficiently and resolve system-related issues.<br>• Provide hands-on assistance and guidance during onboarding and training periods for payroll processes.<br>• Focus exclusively on U.S. payroll operations, ensuring adherence to state-specific regulations and practices.<br>• Monitor benefit and tax accounting functions related to payroll.<br>• Maintain and safeguard payroll records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll operations, demonstrating strong attention to detail.<br>• Proficiency in using Workday or similar payroll systems is highly preferred.<br>• Familiarity with U.S. payroll functions and state-specific regulations.<br>• Experience with accounting software systems such as ADP Workforce Now, Ceridian, or Dayforce.<br>• Strong knowledge of payroll processing, including benefit and tax accounting.<br>• Previous experience with bonus payouts and restricted stock handling is advantageous.<br>• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.<br>• Ability to adapt to hybrid work arrangements and collaborate effectively in both in-office and virtual environments.
