Part Time Controller
We are looking for an experienced Part Time Controller to support the financial operations of a sports organization in Cambridge, Ontario. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a finance specialist who can provide steady leadership across reporting, forecasting, cash oversight, and compliance while partnering closely with management. The role offers a hands-on opportunity to guide accounting activities, strengthen financial visibility, and help maintain accurate, timely reporting across the business.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Lead day-to-day accounting and finance activities, providing direction to staff and coordinating effectively with the broader accounting function.<br>• Partner with leadership to develop budgets, update forecasts, and prepare Excel-based financial analysis covering sales, information technology, operations, and operating costs.<br>• Build and maintain rolling 12-month cash flow projections by evaluating incoming funds, outgoing payments, payroll commitments, tax obligations, and other liquidity needs.<br>• Oversee cash usage for payroll, supplier payments, tax remittances, and month-end fund transfers while ensuring appropriate financial control.<br>• Prepare monthly and annual financial reporting, manage close timelines, and support the delivery of accurate financial statements.<br>• Reconcile inventory records to the general ledger at month-end, investigate variances, and post journal entries as needed, including off-site and in-transit inventory adjustments and foreign exchange revaluations.<br>• Support tax and regulatory activities, including corporate tax payment coordination, sales tax filings, annual remuneration reporting, and related year-end audit documentation.<br>• Administer payment approvals, assist with insurance renewals and certificates, and coordinate financial records related to leases, intercompany balances, duty drawback submissions, tariff analysis, and other ad hoc reporting needs.
• At least 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, with background in a Controller or senior-level financial leadership capacity.<br>• Demonstrated ability to produce monthly financial reporting and oversee a structured month-end close process.<br>• Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and balance sheet analysis.<br>• Experience with inventory reconciliation, journal entries, accruals, and general ledger oversight.<br>• Working knowledge of tax compliance, financial reporting standards, and year-end audit support.<br>• Advanced Excel skills with the ability to prepare detailed financial models, reconciliations, and management reports.<br>• Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across finance and operational teams.
