Payroll Administrator Job Description

A Payroll Administrator accurately processes payroll and maintains comprehensive records. This role involves data entry, calculating wages/deductions, preparing remittances, and responding to employee inquiries. The Administrator ensures compliance and contributes to smooth HR/Finance operations. This position demands meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and payroll software proficiency. Typically, 1-3 years of payroll administration experience is required. A college diploma in a related field is preferred, with active pursuit or completion of a Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) highly valued. A solid understanding of Canadian federal and provincial payroll regulations is essential.

Typical payroll administrator duties:

Process accurate bi-weekly/SEMi-monthly payroll.Calculate wages, deductions (income tax, EI, CPP), and benefits.Prepare and submit statutory remittances (CRA, WCB, EHT).Maintain accurate employee payroll records (new hires, terminations, changes).Issue Records of Employment (ROEs) and T4s/T4As.Respond to and resolve employee payroll inquiries.Reconcile payroll-related accounts; assist with month-end close.Ensure compliance with Canadian payroll legislation.
