AR/AP Manager Job Description

An AR/AP Manager in Canada is a critical leader responsible for overseeing both accounts receivable and accounts payable functions, playing a pivotal role in maintaining efficient cash flow, financial accuracy, and strong stakeholder relationships. This position requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and risk management across both revenue and expenditure cycles. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is expected, and a professional certification such as the Canadian Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) can be a significant asset.

Typical AR/AP manager duties:

Oversee all daily operations of both the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable departments.Develop, implement, and maintain efficient AR/AP policies, procedures, and internal controls.Manage customer invoicing, payment application, and collection efforts to optimize cash inflow.Manage vendor invoice processing, payment disburSEMents, and vendor statement reconciliation to ensure timely payments.Lead and mentor the AR/AP team, fostering a culture of accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement.Monitor accounts receivable aging and accounts payable aging, providing regular reports and analysis to management.Resolve complex customer payment issues, vendor disputes, and reconciliation discrepancies.Ensure compliance with company policies, Canadian accounting standards, and relevant tax regulations (e.g., GST/HST).
