A successful and growing technology company was about to embark on the next stage of its evolution by planning for an IPO. The company sought to enter the preparatory phase of the IPO by hiring a CFO who would partner with the CEO to develop the company’s financial infrastructure and capabilities, particularly with regards to reporting, analytics, and leveraging deep financial and market insights.

The experienced executive search team organised a meeting with the private equity board and their current CEO to discuss the requirements of the position. Our experts provided guidance around the most desirable candidate profile for the business, as well as the appropriate compensation package including both short and long-term incentives plans tied to growth objectives. A thorough research strategy highlighted a well-matched list of prospective candidates. The candidates were evaluated against agreed competencies resulting in a shortlist of six individuals for the client to interview. The client interviewed over two consecutive days, utilising our offices and facilitated by the Managing Director. We worked closely with the company’s CEO and private equity board to identify the top three candidates for a second-round interview. After advising on the second-round interview process, two candidates were put through psychometric evaluations and a variety of third-party reference checks were conducted, including police checks, director and supervisory checks, and education verification before facilitating a successful offer and acceptance.

The CFO helped drive a successful capital raise which has uplifted the financial performance of the business. The private equity board members now benefit from detailed reports, analyses, and insights from the CFO putting the business in a solid position for an IPO. The successful appointment of the CFO has resulted in an ongoing relationship with Robert Half. Our executive search team have subsequently placed candidates for other business-critical roles, including a CTO, a General Counsel, three Business Unit General Managers, a Commercial Director, a Sales Director, and a Head of People and Culture. The client has also leveraged its partnership with Robert Half to expand their US operations by recruiting a Chief Revenue Officer and Chief Commercial Officer.
