Report writers are responsible for helping extract and report an organization's data in a way that is meaningful to business decision makers. Typical duties include analysis of complex data systems and documenting data elements, data flow, relationships and dependencies. Candidates need quantitative, teamwork and problem-solving abilities, as well as a thorough knowledge of relational database theory and practice. An understanding of the Microsoft stack of technologies and the .NET Framework can be helpful. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle Database or IBM DB2 is also important. Verbal and writing skills are key because analysts need to clearly explain their findings to non-tech team members.
