Marketing Director Job Description

The marketing director is part analyst, part strategist and part manager. This professional supervises a marketing team responsible for developing promotional communications strategy and materials for a company or product. The marketing director’s role can vary depending on a company’s needs and the industry focus, but generally, it centers on managing the marketing process from research and planning to execution and analysis. Duties may also include overseeing the operation of a company’s website or email marketing program and reviewing analytics. This position requires excellent communication, analytical and managerial skills. An MBA is often preferred, as is 5 to 10 years of applicable experience.

Typical marketing director duties:

Preparing short- and long-term marketing plans, including promotional calendars and programs, developing pricing policies and setting budgetsDirecting marketing messaging activities and ensuring marketing programs align with public relations initiativesTracking and evaluating the results of marketing campaigns and identifying opportunities to drive improvement and grow target market share
