Financial Reporting Manager Job Description

Financial reporting managers drive the financial reporting function in a company and must have excellent analytical and communication skills. Businesses look for candidates with a minimum of five years of experience in financial reporting roles and give preference to those who have worked as financial analysts. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required, as is experience with major ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP and knowledge of internal controls requirements.

Typical financial reporting manager duties:

Preparing and reviewing public filings (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K and other SEC filings)Ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirementsPresenting internal financial statementsSupporting the controller in preparing for and implementing new accounting standardsAssisting in the maintenance of internal financial controls, including developing and/or updating procedures to enhance efficiency and internal controlsCommunicating with external and internal auditors regarding financial reporting matters
