Employer tip: Every business values different strengths. Robert Half can work with you to assess the skills and qualities that matter most for your team and help identify the right candidates.
Yes! We test for advanced Excel and financial modelling skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and scenario modelling. We also look for proficiency with key UK accounting systems like Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, and, in larger organisations, SAP or Microsoft Dynamics. In some cases, we also check skills in Power BI for reporting and tools like Concur or Pleo for expense management.
Part-qualified candidates can vary widely in experience. At the earlier stage, some will be relatively new to accounting and bring foundational exposure to reconciliations, invoice processing and assisting with month-end close. Others, particularly those further along in their studies, may already be highly experienced, taking ownership of management accounts, variance analysis, budgeting support and financial reporting, often with advanced Excel and ERP system expertise (Sage, Xero, SAP, Dynamics).
What unites them is their commitment to progressing toward full qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) and the ability to add value at different levels, whether you’re looking for someone to grow into a role or to step in with strong hands-on experience. At Robert Half, we work with you to understand which profile best suits your needs.
