Intermediate Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Intermediate Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Vancouver, British Columbia. This role involves managing day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy in bookkeeping, and supporting payroll processes. If you thrive in a collaborative, small-office environment and have a strong background in accounting, we encourage you to apply.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Perform bookkeeping tasks, including transaction entries for multiple entities and coding for the general ledger.<br>• Reconcile bank accounts and oversee cash flow for various accounts and business operations.<br>• Process semi-monthly payroll, including unionized payrolls, pensions, and benefits management.<br>• Prepare and analyze financial reports, ensuring compliance with organizational and funding requirements.<br>• Support audit preparations and assist with payroll analysis as needed.<br>• Manage procurement and office administration tasks, such as ordering supplies and maintaining records.<br>• Utilize Sage accounting software and advanced Excel functions, such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, for financial analysis.<br>• Collaborate with the finance manager and executive director to support organizational goals.<br>• Maintain both hardcopy and digital financial records in an organized and accessible manner.<br>• Assist with fundraising and donor-related financial activities as required.
• Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.<br>• Proficiency in Sage accounting software and advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.<br>• Strong understanding of payroll systems, including unionized payroll, pensions, and benefits.<br>• Experience managing financial operations for small organizations with multiple accounts and entities.<br>• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail when handling financial records.<br>• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a small team environment.<br>• Familiarity with preparing for audits and analyzing payroll data.<br>• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and stakeholders.
