We are looking for an experienced Controller to support an Insurance Company in North York, Ontario on a Contract basis (3-6 months). This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented finance specialist who can step into a hands-on leadership role, oversee core accounting activities, and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting. The successful candidate will bring strong knowledge of insurance operations, practical experience managing the financial close cycle, and confidence working within a Canadian finance environment. Responsibilities:• Lead the full month-end and year-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are complete and reliable.• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and related reports to support sound business and operational decision-making.• Oversee day-to-day accounting activities while providing senior-level financial control across the organization.• Use Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) to manage accounting workflows, maintain data accuracy, and support reporting requirements.• Monitor financial performance, investigate variances, and recommend corrective actions where needed.• Support compliance with Canadian accounting and financial reporting standards, policies, and internal controls.• Partner with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights related to health insurance operations and reporting needs.

• CPA accounting designation is required.• Proven experience serving in a Controller or comparable senior finance leadership role.• Strong hands-on experience managing the financial close process, including month-end activities.• Background in the health insurance sector is required.• Proficiency with Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains).• Demonstrated ability to produce accurate financial reporting and interpret results effectively.• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach.
