HR Generalist Job Description

An HR Generalist is a versatile professional responsible for performing a broad range of human resources functions to support the HR department and employees. This role involves managing recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and HR policy implementation. The HR Generalist acts as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries, ensuring consistent application of policies and compliance with employment laws. This position demands strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal communication, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Typically, 3-5 years of progressive HR experience is required. A Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Human Resources or Business Administration is essential, with active pursuit or completion of a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation highly preferred. A solid understanding of Canadian employment standards and HR best practices is crucial.

Typical HR generalist duties:

Manage full-cycle recruitment processes from job posting to offer generation.Administer new hire onboarding and orientation programs.Provide advice and support on employee relations and performance management.Administer benefits programs and act as a liaison with providers.Ensure compliance with Canadian employment laws and company policies.Maintain accurate HR records and administer HR information systems (HRIS).Support HR projects and initiatives (e.g., training, engagement surveys).Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures.
