<p>We are currently looking for an Azure Data Engineer to support strategic objectives by improving how the business uses data.</p><p>The role combines hands-on Azure data engineering, technical leadership, and vendor management. With deep expertise in Azure Data Factory (ADF), the role leads enterprise data integration across Azure Synapse Analytics - defining requirements, guiding vendor delivery, and building critical components of the data platform.</p><p> </p><p><strong>Skill set / Experience needed -</strong></p><ul><li>Minimum seven years' experience supporting data platforms and data warehouse/BI solutions (data engineering, integration, and dashboards).</li><li>Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field.</li><li>Strong stakeholder management skills, including prioritising work and managing SME and senior leader expectations.</li><li>Extensive hands‑on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF).</li><li>Strong experience delivering data integration solutions on Azure Synapse Analytics.</li><li>Working knowledge of Microsoft Fabric (Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Lakehouse, Warehouse).</li><li>Proven experience managing external data engineering vendors and delivery outcomes.</li><li>Ability to write high-quality technical requirements and solution designs.</li><li>Strong SQL skills and solid understanding of data warehousing principles.</li><li>Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 and Azure Blob Storage.</li><li>Strong understanding of ETL/ELT, data lakes, Medallion architecture, and data warehousing principles (dimensional modelling, data quality, and governance).</li><li>Hands-on experience with BI and reporting tools (Power BI).</li><li>High self-motivation and ability to work hands-on and independently when required.</li><li>Current driver's licence and access to a vehicle.</li></ul><p> </p><p><strong>Highly Desirable -</strong></p><ul><li>Python and/or PySpark for data transformation and validation.</li><li>Experience implementing CI/CD for data platforms (Azure DevOps / Git).</li><li>Demonstrable experience migrating SSIS workloads to Azure Synapse and/or Microsoft Fabric</li></ul><p> </p><p>This role is a permanent position and is in office 5 days a week.</p><p> </p><p>The client site is not based near public transport, so you must also have your own mode of transport.</p><p> </p><p><em>Reference Number: </em><strong>06800-0013407993</strong></p><p><em>By clicking 'apply', you give your express consent that Robert Half may use your personal information to process your job application and to contact you from time to time for future employment opportunities.
