-
Your Opportunity

We've recruited a lot of Financial Controllers over the years, and the best ones usually have three things in common.

They're technically strong. They enjoy leading people. They never stop looking for ways to improve the finance function.

If that sounds like you, we'd encourage you to keep reading.

You'll join a PE-backed business that's entered an exciting new phase of growth following a major investment. The business is highly successful and growing, with big plans.

However, what stood out to us most about this role wasn't the title or the salary.

It's the CFO.

If you're ambitious, having a leader like this above you can make a huge difference to your career.

They're one of those finance leaders who genuinely enjoys developing people. Technically outstanding, commercially astute, razor sharp, and someone who wants their Financial Controller to challenge ideas, contribute to decisions and continue growing into a senior finance leader.

This isn't a role where you'll simply oversee month-end and keep the finance function moving.

You'll certainly own the technical side of finance such as financial reporting, consolidations, statutory compliance, audit, controls and governance, cash flow reporting, partner with tax advisors, but you'll also manage a team of four, partner with stakeholders across the business and become involved in acquisitions, financing activities, ERP implementation and continuous improvement projects.

You'll lead the day-to-day finance function, ensuring the quality, integrity and timeliness of financial reporting while developing a high-performing finance team.
In addition, you'll be working closely with the CFO to improve reporting, systems and finance processes as the business continues to grow.

Who You Are:

You will be an ambitious Financial Controller or experienced Finance Manager who's ready for broader leadership responsibility.

You'll almost certainly have built your career on a strong technical accounting foundation. Perhaps you started in Audit with a Big 4 or mid-tier firm before moving into industry, or you've developed that same technical capability through increasingly complex commercial finance roles.

Either way, you'll still enjoy understanding the detail and you'll be confident reviewing technical accounting matters, consolidations, statutory reporting and financial controls, while also recognising that today's Financial Controllers need to do far more than produce accurate numbers.

You'll know how to coach, develop and support your team while building strong relationships across the wider business. Your communication skills will be one of your greatest strengths, allowing you to influence stakeholders, challenge constructively and earn credibility at every level of the organisation.

CA or CPA qualification.

Strong technical accounting capability, including consolidations and statutory reporting.

Previous experience leading and developing finance teams.

A background in a growing SME or mid-market business.

Knowledge of retail, property, development is helpful but not a deal breaker

Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.

A genuine desire to continue learning and developing as a finance leader.

Interview Process:

First stage will be held in RH offices on Monday 10th August with final stage within 7 working days.

Apply Today

Submit your CV directly via email to Stewart Selwood on [email protected] or by pressing the Apply button.

By clicking 'apply', you give your express consent that Robert Half may use your personal information to process your job application and to contact you from time to time for future employment opportunities. But this is also about improving how the finance function operates.

You'll sit within an eight-person finance team and report to a very good Financial Controller.

There are no direct reports, but you'll have plenty of influence across the finance function and the wider business.

Your responsibilities will include:

Financial, management and statutory reporting

External audit and accounting standards

Financial controls, reconciliations and control improvement

Supporting treasury and cash-flow forecasting

International tax compliance and reporting

Derivative and hedge accounting

SAP S/4HANA optimisation following the recent implementation

Identifying opportunities for automation and better use of technology and AI

Process improvement across finance

Working with operational and technical stakeholders to provide commercial insight

Supporting and developing other members of the finance team

Who you are:

You'll be someone serious about the next step in their career and be ready and willing to explore a new way of life.
You don't need to have performed all the duties listed above but you will be someone with an appetite to learn and develop.

You'll bring:

5+ years' finance experience within a sizeable or complex organisation

CA / CPA qualified

Strong financial accounting and reporting experience in ANZ

Solid ERP experience: SAP/S4HANA would be ideal

Strong Excel skills

Exposure to areas such as tax, treasury, derivatives or statutory reporting would be highly regarded

A genuine interest in systems and process improvement

The confidence to question how things are done and suggest a better way

The ambition to take on more responsibility over time

By clicking 'apply', you give your express consent that Robert Half may use your personal information to process your job application and to contact you from time to time for future employment opportunities.
