The systems security manager must be knowledgeable of information technology security principles, as well as common office technology tools. Candidates ensure routine system reviews are conducted on assigned systems. The position requires multitasking and excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills. It is important that candidates keep abreast of industry security trends and developments, as well as applicable government regulations. Employers normally seek a bachelor’s degree in information systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with five or more years of systems and network security experience. One or more years of managerial experience may also be required.
