Revenue Cycle Director

Revenue Cycle Director Job Description

Extensive knowledge of the healthcare revenue-cycle environment and a strong understanding of medical billing principles are required for this position. Experience in revenue-cycle system implementation, configuration, and assessment and knowledge of medical records information systems are important to the role, along with knowledge of medical terminology. Candidates should have a proven ability to develop, analyze, implement and monitor productivity levels and quality-improvement strategies, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with administrators, physicians and peers. A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or healthcare administration and at least 10 years of healthcare revenue cycle and supervisory experience are required; a professional coder certification is preferred.

Typical revenue cycle director duties:

Overseeing and managing the operations of the billing departmentPlanning and directing patient insurance documentation, workload coding, billing and data processing to ensure accurate billing and efficient account collectionAnalyzing billing and claims for accuracy and completeness, submitting claims to proper insurance entities and working with denials teams to follow up on discrepanciesAuditing current procedures to monitor and improve efficiency of billing operationsEnsuring that billing operations are conducted in compliance with federal, state and payer regulations, guidelines and requirementsParticipating in the development and implementation of operating policies and proceduresSupervising billing personnel
