Back End Developer
<p>Our Client is seeking a skilled Back-End Software Engineer with 6+ years of experience in backend development to support a large-scale project centered around a custom real-time bidding and auction management platform. This role is ideal for professionals with strong Node.js experience, a startup-ready mindset, and a passion for performance and reliability. You will work directly with internal engineering leadership and cross-functional teams, helping deliver key features and optimizations to meet aggressive timelines. This is a remote role with occasional travel for our client in Etobicoke, Ontario. </p><p><br></p>
<p>Must-Have Skills & Attributes:</p><ul><li>Minimum 6+ years of backend software development experience with core technologies</li><li>Proven expertise building production systems using Node.js</li><li>Experience building event-driven or real-time systems, as well as high-throughput services</li><li>Familiarity with Payload CMS as a data/admin layer</li><li>Experience using PostgreSQL for back-end databases</li><li>QA/testing skills, preferably with Playwright and/or Vitest</li><li>Cloud infrastructure experience, specifically AWS</li><li>Startup-ready mindset: comfortable working with limited documentation and tight deadlines</li><li>Excellent communication skills; reliable and responsive during business hours</li><li>Independent, proactive, and fast learner with strong problem-solving abilities</li><li>Sockets.io experience is a plus</li><li>Bonus: ability and willingness to improve technical documentation</li></ul><p>Scope of Work:</p><p>Back-End Development (Core Focus)</p><ul><li>Build and extend backend services for a real-time bidding and auction management platform</li><li>Enhance a beta version of the application by developing new functionality on top of existing code</li><li>Develop, test, and verify backend logic for real-time bidding workflows</li><li>Contribute equally to new feature development and system optimization</li><li>Participate in backend design and functional reviews</li></ul><p>Performance, Reliability & Quality</p><ul><li>Support performance testing and reliability improvements</li><li>Assist with QA activities and establish testing workflows (dedicated QA may be added later)</li><li>Participate in release coordination and provide initial production support</li><li>Help define completion criteria in a fast-paced startup environment</li></ul><p>📌 <strong>Our specialized recruiting professionals apply their expertise and utilize our proprietary AI to find you great job matches faster.
