- We are looking for a Project Accountant to join a finance team in Toronto, Ontario on a Long-term Contract basis. In this role, you will support project leaders and internal stakeholders with billing, cost control, financial tracking, and project administration across a portfolio of active assignments. This position is well suited to someone with strong attention to detail, solid Excel skills, and prior exposure to project-based accounting in a services setting. The initial term is expected to run for 3 to 6 months, with the possibility of extending into a permanent opportunity.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Provide financial and administrative support to Project Managers from project kickoff through completion, helping maintain accurate records at each stage.<br>• Create and update project files in the accounting system to ensure budgets, billing details, and supporting information are current.<br>• Prepare and issue monthly client invoices with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with project terms.<br>• Examine project financial results, identify variances or concerns, and share relevant insights with internal stakeholders.<br>• Process disbursements and project-related invoices each month while maintaining complete documentation.<br>• Coordinate sub-consultant invoicing activities, reconcile submitted charges, and monitor costs against approved project budgets.<br>• Facilitate timely payment to consultants in accordance with contractual payment practices and internal procedures.<br>• Assist project teams with budget preparation, financial analysis, and recurring or ad hoc reporting requirements.<br>• Maintain compliance with established accounting policies, procedures, and controls across all assigned projects.
