We are looking for an experienced Payroll Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Contract basis. This interim assignment is expected to run for 4 to 6 weeks, with the possibility of extension, and will support critical accounting and payroll activities during a leave coverage period. The successful candidate will bring strong technical accounting knowledge, hands-on payroll expertise, and the ability to manage priorities independently in a busy environment. Responsibilities: • Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner. • Manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice review, processing, and payment coordination. • Complete bank, corporate card, and other balance sheet reconciliations while investigating and resolving discrepancies. • Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks to support accurate financial reporting. • Administer end-to-end payroll for hourly, salaried, and contract team members across multiple entities. • Reconcile payroll records to the general ledger and prepare required remittances and year-end payroll documentation. • Coordinate employee payroll changes, onboarding updates, terminations, benefits administration, and related compliance activities. • Support billing, collections, and accounts receivable follow-up in collaboration with finance colleagues. • Maintain organized financial and payroll records, handle petty cash activities, and assist with additional finance or administrative duties as needed.

• 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in accounting, including direct payroll processing responsibilities. • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, statutory remittances, and year-end reporting requirements. • Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and proficiency using accounting and payroll systems. • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to manage, analyze, and reconcile financial data accurately. • Experience supporting accounts payable, reconciliations, journal entries, and general accounting functions. • Payroll certification is considered an asset, and progress toward or completion of an accounting designation is preferred. • Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, and exercise sound judgement in a fast-paced setting. • Excellent attention to detail, discretion, and communication skills.
