This executive leadership role is responsible for driving financial strategy, overseeing robust financial planning and analysis, ensuring rigorous risk management, and maintaining impeccable compliance with all applicable regulations. The Chief Financial Officer plays a critical role in optimizing capital structure, guiding investment decisions, and ultimately maximizing shareholder value. Candidates must possess exceptional financial acumen, profound strategic insight, and proven leadership capabilities, with a track record of driving fiscal performance and operational efficiency. Typically, 15+ years of progressive finance experience, including substantial time in a senior leadership is required. A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is essential, often complemented by a Master of Business Administration (MBA). Deep expertise in Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS), tax laws, and financial regulations is paramount.

Typical chief financial officer duties:

Develop and execute the overall financial strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, and capital allocation.Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, treasury, tax, payroll, and internal controls.Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely reporting of financial statements in full compliance with Canadian accounting standards (ASPE/IFRS) and other regulatory bodies.Manage financial risks, implement robust internal controls, and uphold strong corporate governance practices.Lead strategic financial analysis, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to executive leadership for business decisions.Optimize the company's financial structure, cash flow management, and capital expenditure planning.Manage relationships with financial institutions, auditors, investors, and other external stakeholders.Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance and accounting team.
