Senior Consultant Job Description

Senior consultants guide multiple complex projects, teams and initiatives to achieve business strategies and objectives. They have excellent subject-matter knowledge along with communication, interpersonal and supervisory skills. They shine in program management, from conception and design through implementation, measurement and continuous improvement, and they regularly contribute to improving internal services and efficiencies. Employers seek candidates with a bachelor’s degree in computer science, management or an IT-related discipline, four years of demonstrated expertise leading complex team initiatives, and a strong knowledge of technology and the IT services industry.

Typical senior consultant duties:

Developing project plans, executing deliverables, and proactively identifying and managing risks and issuesDefining project scope and creating a milestone and deadline list for deliveryCoordinating with cross-functional team leaders, and monitoring and reporting on project statusCommunicating project progress, findings, output, and deployment plans to senior leadership and all constituentsProviding mentoring, coaching, support, and guidance to project participants on policies, procedures, priorities, and methods
