QA Manager Job Description

QA managers have an extensive background in assurance methodologies and procedures; a good understanding of application development and database technologies; and excellent written and oral communication, problem-solving, organizational, and presentation skills. Employers typically look for six or more years of experience in developing test artifacts; writing test plans; and designing, developing, and maintaining test scenarios and test cases. Several years of technical managerial experience and a bachelor’s degree in information systems, computer science or a related field are also typically required.

Typical QA manager duties:

Managing a group of QA analysts/testers and directing their workDeveloping test automation guidelines and implementing automated solutions to improve testing efficiencyLeading QA for multiple products and client implementations simultaneouslyReviewing software requirements and developing test plans, test scripts and acceptance criteria for all testing phasesPreparing budgets, staffing plans and recommendationsCollaborating with development teams and other QA resources to ensure the quality of the deliverables
