Network/Cloud Engineer in New York, NY

Network/Cloud Engineer Job Description

Network/cloud engineers must be detail-oriented problem solvers with in-depth knowledge of networking hardware and software. A strong background in interfacing, security, internet protocols and server and network infrastructure is necessary. Network/cloud engineers use traditional and creative methods to ensure the stability and integrity of in-house voice, data, video and wireless network services. A bachelor’s degree in computer science or electrical engineering and five or more years of experience in areas such as network design and implementation, LAN/WAN interfacing, security, internet protocols and TCP/IP, and server and network infrastructure are typical job requirements. A professional certification, such as the Cisco CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE, also is highly desirable.

Typical network/cloud engineer duties:

Planning, designing and developing local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) across the organizationParticipating in the installation, monitoring, maintenance, support and optimization of all network hardware, software and communication linksAnalyzing and resolving network hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion and providing end-user trainingMaintaining a secure transfer of data to multiple locations via internal and external networks
