As the project scales, the finance team is growing-and they are now looking to hire a Financial Accountant to help establish key financial processes, with a focus on fixed asset register setup and lease accounting. With new leadership in place and a growing function, this role offers the chance to shape best practices from day one within a collaborative and evolving finance team.

This is a newly created role, offering the chance to shape and define your remit from the ground up. With the finance function still in its early stages of growth, there's significant opportunity for development and progression. You'll be joining at a pivotal moment in a high-profile, nationally significant project-making this an ideal move for someone looking to make a lasting impact while advancing their career.

📊 About the Position

Reporting to the Financial Reporting Manager, you'll take ownership of key areas within the financial accounting function, with a particular focus on fixed assets and lease accounting. Your responsibilities will include:

Playing a key role in shaping and implementing the fixed asset register and associated processes.

Taking full ownership of the fixed asset register-ensuring accurate and timely capitalisation, control, and compliance with IFRS.

Reconciling asset data across systems and sub-ledgers, while working closely with Commercial teams to ensure alignment with operational asset registers.

Supporting IFRS 16 lease accounting, including tracking right-of-use assets and calculating depreciation.

Preparing and reconciling balance sheet accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.

Contributing to monthly financial reporting and the preparation of statutory accounts.

Assisting with both internal and external audit queries.

📋 What we're looking for

A background in financial accounting in industry, with hands-on experience in fixed assets-ideally involving the setup and review of asset registers, not just balance sheet reconciliations.

Strong lease accounting knowledge is highly desirable.

Ideally studying towards the final stages of ACCA, ACA or CIMA.

Fully qualified candidates (ACCA or ACA) are also encouraged to apply.

🤝Here's what's waiting for you

28 days holiday, plus bank holidays.

Annual performance-based bonus.

Exceptionally generous pension scheme - 10% employer contribution, increasing with service.

Hybrid working - 3 days per week in the office.

£1,500 annually in flexible benefits, which can be used toward healthcare, financial wellbeing, lifestyle perks, or taken as additional salary.

Life assurance at 8x your annual salary.

💼 Why this role could be your next move

This is a unique opportunity to join a newly established and growing finance team within one of the UK's most high-profile, large-scale infrastructure programmes. With no fixed asset register or existing process in place, you'll play a key role in building this function from the ground up-designing and implementing procedures to ensure accuracy, control, and compliance.

This role goes far beyond transactional work; you'll take ownership of the full fixed asset process, alongside a significant focus on lease accounting. You'll also support balance sheet reconciliations, month-end close, internal and external audit, regulatory reporting, and group submissions.

There's a strong finance transformation agenda, so you'll have the chance to input into process improvements and systems development-making this an ideal time to join, shape the role, and have real impact. Not to mention, this is a multi-billion-pound project that's attracting national attention-your work will directly contribute to its success.

Robert Half Ltd acts as an employment business for temporary positions and an employment agency for permanent positions.
