- We are looking for an experienced Sr. Finance Consultant to join an architecture organization in Burnaby, British Columbia on a Contract basis. This role is centred on strengthening year-end financial reporting, advancing audit readiness, and refining finance governance documentation. The successful candidate will bring senior-level judgement to policy review, foundation accounting oversight, and collaboration with internal stakeholders and external auditors.<br><br>Responsibilities:<br>• Lead a senior review of finance and governance policies, updating drafted documents to improve clarity, compliance, and practical application across the organization.<br>• Perform a pre-audit assessment of supporting schedules and working papers, identify deficiencies, and guide the resolution of items that require further clean-up before the audit begins.<br>• Contribute to fiscal year-end close activities by examining trial balances, validating financial reporting packages, and providing feedback on statements prepared by the finance team.<br>• Manage the Foundation’s accounting records by maintaining accurate books, reviewing balances, and supporting related disclosures within the organization’s financial statements.<br>• Partner with internal finance staff to organize audit-ready documentation, coordinate timelines, and address information requests from external auditors, including PwC.<br>• Complete and support complex account reconciliations where additional technical expertise is required to resolve outstanding issues.<br>• Apply knowledge of charitable organization accounting principles to financial reporting matters, with fund accounting experience considered an asset.<br>• Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central and comparable financial systems as needed to review records, support reporting, and facilitate year-end deliverables.<br>• Concentrate primarily on audit preparation, year-end reporting, policy analysis, and foundation accounting, with minimal involvement in routine transactional finance activities.
