A Junior Law Clerk is an entry-level legal support professional who provides administrative and procedural assistance to lawyers and senior law clerks. This role involves performing foundational legal tasks such as organizing documents, basic legal research, data entry, and assisting with file management. The Junior Law Clerk learns various legal processes and contributes to the efficient operation of the legal team. This position demands strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and proficiency in office software. Typically, 0-1 year of experience in a legal support role, or completion of a relevant legal administration program, is required. A Law Clerk Diploma/Certificate from an accredited Canadian institution is often preferred. A basic understanding of Canadian legal office procedures and confidentiality principles is essential.

Typical junior law clerk duties:

Organize and maintain physical and electronic legal files.Perform data entry and update case management systems.Assist with basic legal research under supervision.Prepare routine correspondence and standard forms.File and retrieve legal documents as directed.Schedule appointments and manage calendars for legal professionals.Photocopy, scan, and bind legal documents.Provide general administrative support to the legal team.
