Staff Accountant in Charlotte, NC

Staff Accountant job description

Staff accountants are essential members of the accounting team who are responsible for maintaining accurate financial records and supporting day-to-day accounting operations. They assist with general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, financial reporting and month-end close processes. This role requires strong attention to detail, analytical thinking and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

Typical staff accountant duties:

Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring accurate financial reporting

Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts on a regular basis

Assist with month- and year-end close processes, including accruals and adjustments

Maintain and update financial records in compliance with company policies and accounting standards

Support the preparation of internal and external financial reports

Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and resolve discrepancies

Assist with audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries

Monitor and analyze accounting data to identify trends, variances or areas for improvement
